How to Make Egg Roll?
There are so many ways to make an egg roll, but I will be making the classic one today. To start, you will have to make a dough for the egg wrapping. To do that, in a bowl add all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and water gradually, then make a dough. Set it aside for 20 minutes.
Then make the paratha and fry the egg and paratha together to make the roll. To know the full process step-by-step, please follow the guidelines below.
Egg Roll Recipe
Servings: 4, Prep Time: 10 minutes, Cook Time: 20 minutes, Course: Breakfast, Snack, Cuisine: Asian
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons oil (plus extra for cooking)
- Normal water (as needed)
- 1 egg
- A pinch of salt (for the egg)
- Cucumber (sliced)
- Tomatoes (sliced)
- Onion (sliced)
- Green chilies (sliced)
- Lemon juice
- Tomato sauce
Directions:
Prepare the Dough:
- In a bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon of sugar, ½ teaspoon of salt, and 2 tablespoons of oil.

- Mix all the ingredients well.

- Add normal-temperature water as needed to form a dough.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest for 20 minutes.

Shape the Dough:
- After your dough has rested, it’s time to get shaping! divide the dough into 4 equal balls.

- Think of it like making a mini pizza! Sprinkle a tablespoon of oil and a bit of flour over the flattened dough.

- Now, here’s a fun part, take a shredder and make a cut on one side of the flat dough.

- Start rolling from the cut side to the end of the dough to form a roll. Just take your time with this step to get it just right!

- Once you’ve rolled it up, press it flat to form a disc.

- Repeat this with the rest of the dough balls, and let those discs rest for another 10 minutes.

Cook the Roti:
- Take one dough disc and roll it out thin, like a roti. Not too thin or thick.

- Cook the roti on a pan over low to medium flame by applying a little oil until both sides are golden and delicious!

Prepare the Egg:
- let’s whip up the egg now! Crack an egg into a small bowl, and add a pinch of salt.

- Beat the egg well.

- Pour the egg mixture into the pan below the paratha and let it cook.

- When the egg is set, flip the roti to cook the egg on the other side.

Put Together the Egg Roll:
- Once your paratha with the cooked egg is ready, carefully take it out of the pan.
- Now for the fun toppings! Add cucumber, tomatoes, onion, green chilies, lemon juice, a pinch of salt, and tomato sauce on top.

- Finally, roll it up with wrapping paper, and you’ve got yourself a tasty egg roll!

Serve:
- And there you have it—your delicious and easy egg roll is ready to enjoy!
- Enjoy with tomato sauce, your favorite dipping sauce, or a side of carrot salad or any other side salad.
What To Serve With Egg Roll?
We usually love to eat this roll on its own, but it also goes well with tomato sauce, chili sauce, chutney, or a side salad. This also pairs well with hot masala chai. Enjoy with your preferences.
Notes
- If you want high protein, use 2 eggs for each paratha. In my experience, 2 eggs do not cook properly over a paratha.
- I made the round-shaped paratha or wrapping, but you can give it a triangular or square shape as well.
Chef’s Tips
- If you want to make it richer, you may add cheese.
- This paratha can be made with processed or mixed millet flour.
- If chili is not your favorite, use chili flakes or pepper instead.
