What is Jello Milk Pudding?

Jello milk pudding is one of the best desserts in the dessert world. It has a rich sweet taste and it is so easy to make. It is a combination of the smooth, creamy texture of milk pudding with the delightful flavors of jello. It’s a cool and colorful dessert, especially very satisfying on a hot day.

How to Make Jello Milk Pudding

To make this delicious dessert, we need ingredients such as agar agar powder, milk, sugar, vanilla essence, and food color. The process begins with preparing the milk pudding by heating milk with sugar and vanilla, then adding the agar agar mixer to thicken it.

When it’s done, it goes straight into the refrigerator and, a jello layer is made by heating agar agar powder and food color in water over low flame, then pouring it over the pudding. After chilling again, the jello milk pudding is ready to be sliced and served.

Ingredients

  • Agar agar powder: 2 tablespoon
  • Water: 2 and ¼ cups
  • Liquid milk: 1 litter
  • A pinch of salt
  • Sugar: ½ cup
  • Vanilla essence: 1 tablespoon
  • Food color: 1 tablespoon  (any color you like)
  • Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon

Directions

  • In a small bowl, take ½ tablespoon agar agar powder and mix it with ¼ water cup. Please note the portion carefully, as this is important. Now Mix well and set it aside.
  • Pour the milk into a large pan, so you can stir it evenly while gently heating it. Add a pinch of salt, then ½ of sugar and 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence.
  • Mix all the ingredients and bring it to a boil for five minutes. When the milk is reduced to 3 cups, add the Agar Agar mixer to the boiling and stir continuously until it is thick.
  • After it thickens, pour the milk mixture into a serving dish. Let it cool for a few minutes then keep the dish in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • The milk pudding is set, now remove the mold and cut the side evenly from the milk pudding.
  • Now, place it again in the fridge.
  • Here comes the fun part, let’s make the jello! In a pan, add 2 cups of water, 1 and ½ tablespoons agar agar powder, and mix until sugar and agar agar powder are fully dissolved.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of red food color, give it another good stir, and then let it simmer gently. For the final touch, add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, bring it to a quick boil, and then turn off the stove. And just like that, you’re done!
  • Take out the pudding from the refrigerator and pour the jello mixture in it. Place it nicely, make sure the whole milk is covered by the jello.
  • Now keep the bowl again in the fridge for 1 hour or until it sets. After 1 hour, the jello milk pudding is set perfectly. Cut the slices and enjoy your favorite jello milk pudding.

Notes

  • Full-fat milk is ideal for this recipe as the higher its fat content the richer the flavor and texture will be, I use 3.5% full-fat milk in making this dessert.
  • Due to this reason, it is advisable to refrain from using fully skimmed milk as it will not easily reach the creamy texture due to its much lower fat content.
  • Use measurement cups or scales when making pastries, as volume measurements can be inaccurate.
  • You can adjust the sugar according to your liking.

Bonus Tips

  • You can store pudding for 3-4 days in your refrigerator.
  • Use only a little heat while boiling the milk. Heat gently. Otherwise, it may not be curdling properly.
